BATAVIA, OHIO (Aug. 12, 2026) - An estimated 26,000 homes and businesses across Clermont County remain without power from the storms that hit Greater Cincinnati on Tuesday, Shawn Riley, administrator of Clermont's emergency management agency, told the board of commissioners at its meeting Wednesday morning.
At the peak overnight, 40,000 homes and businesses in Clermont County were without power, Riley said. Duke Energy has crews working overtime to restore power as quickly as possible, he added.
Riley said most of the damage so far appears to be related to downed trees and power lines. He said the EMA will continue to assess the impact of the storm and will share updates as more information becomes available.
In addition, Kris McClintick, who oversees the county's Building Inspections & Permits Division, told the commissioners that downed trees have fallen on at least 18 buildings in the area. Inspectors are checking on those and any additional incidents that are reported.
The county remains under a flood watch through this evening.
