Storm Update, Freezer Food Giveaway on Friday

WILLIAMSBURG, OHIO (Aug. 20, 2026) - Williamsburg Community Mission is conducting a drive-through freezer food giveaway Friday, Aug. 21, at Williamsburg United Methodist Church, 330 Gay St.

This relief effort is meant for residents who lost refrigerated and frozen food last week due to storm-related power outages throughout Clermont County. At its peak, Duke Energy estimated 40,000 local residents and businesses had lost power. The outage was widespread and significant, lasting for several days. The wind and rainstorms pounded Greater Cincinnati with the central and eastern parts of Clermont County enduring some of the worst damage.

The giveaway starts at 10 a.m. and will continue until food runs out. Volunteers in red shirts will help direct traffic. Organizers ask the community to enter the church parking lot via Gay Street and exit onto Third Street. Please note: No one will be permitted to enter the parking lot before 10 a.m.

Emergency Management Agency Director Shawn Riley told Clermont County's commissioners about the relief effort as part of a storm update during the board's regular session this week. The meeting date was rescheduled to Thursday due to a schedule conflict related to funeral services for former Commissioner Ed Humphrey.

Duke Energy donated $100,000 for the relief effort, which is being coordinated by the Free Store Food Bank in conjunction with local pantries across Greater Cincinnati.
