BATAVIA, OHIO (Oct. 01, 2025) - With the suspension of SNAP benefits, local food pantries have geared up to serve residents who will need food assistance.

An average of approximately 14,000 households in Clermont County receive SNAP benefits each month.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, will be temporarily paused in Ohio and multiple other states beginning Saturday, Nov. 1, for lack of funding as the federal government shutdown continues into its fifth week.

"The demand for food is expected to be greater than supplies at local food pantries," said Dorothy Meier, director, Clermont County Department of Job & Family Services. "As a result, we are accepting donations of non-perishable and shelf-stable foods at our Family Support Center on Clermont Center Drive in Batavia."

Residents are also encouraged to donate directly to local food pantries, Meier said.

• Clermont County Family Support Center/Department of Job & Family Services, 2400 Clermont Center Dr., Batavia, OH  45103
• Hours: Vary by pantry. Drop offs at the county's Family Support Center are accepted Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Types of Donations: Canned goods and other non-perishables including dry goods such as pasta, rice and dry breakfast cereal
• If possible: Please provide canned goods with pull tab openers and avoid donating products that are expired
