America 250 Relay Making Stops in Clermont County: Milford and Williamsburg

CLERMONT COUNTY (Oct. 23, 2026) - The celebration of America 250 in Clermont County continues! Participants in the American Discovery 250 Relay will be biking, walking and running through Milford and Williamsburg this Sunday through Tuesday, Oct. 25 - 27.

The relay, organized by the American Discovery Trail Society, is following a 6,800-mile route across 15 states. It started July 1 at the Pacific Ocean in California and will finish at the Atlantic Ocean in Cape Henlopen, N.J. on Thanksgiving.  Relay participants are carrying a copy of the Declaration of Independence along the journey.

Southern Ohio has featured prominently in the relay with previous stops in Oxford on Oct. 19 and Cincinnati on Oct. 20. Participants are picking up the baton and departing Cincinnati on Sunday morning, traveling 16 miles to Milford. The next leg starts Monday at 8:30 a.m. in Milford before finishing 25 miles later in Williamsburg.

The relay continues across southern Ohio with multiple stops through Nov. 5 before arriving in West Virgina.

It isn't too late to participate and it's free, but organizers ask everyone to register online in advance.

"It's an honor to be part of this history-making relay," said Liz Betemps, America 250 liaison for the Village of Williamsburg. "We are proud to support all of the runners, walkers and bikers and hope they come back to visit Williamsburg again."

Volunteers will be greeting relay participants at Williamsburg's Community Park on Monday at 100 E. Main St. Bicyclists are expected to arrive by late morning with runners and walkers throughout the afternoon. The celebration picks again Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. with a sendoff for the next leg headed east to Shawnee State Park.

The public is invited to stop by Community Park both days.

Organizers with American Discovery Trail Society describe the relay as historic, touting it as the first coast-to-coast and longest relay in American history. The route passes through lands and trails managed by numerous state and local agencies, including the National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, as well as the homes of more than 40 million Americans.
