Groundbreaking scheduled for new Sheriff’s Office Safety and Training Facility

BATAVIA, OH (Jan. 23, 2020) – Local officials will break ground on an $852,000, 4,585-square-foot Clermont County Sheriff’s Office Safety and Training Facility at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, at 4470 State Route 222, Batavia, Ohio, 45103.

“We’re excited to begin work on a new facility which will support our number one resource, the men and women of the Law Enforcement community who serve and protect citizens throughout Clermont County,” Sheriff Robert S. Leahy said.

David Painter, president of the Board of County Commissioners, added: “We’re proud to invest in a modern Safety and Training Facility that will serve the Sheriff’s Office for years to come.”

“We’re honored to provide funding for such an important facility, one that will assist those who do so much to help the citizens of Clermont County,” Commissioner Ed Humphrey said.

Commissioner Claire Corcoran added: “The Clermont County Commissioners proudly support the Sheriff’s Office. They maintain a high level of professionalism because of continuous training. The new Training and Safety Facility will enhance their state-of-the-art training.”

The building will house open and private offices, single-user restrooms, a kitchen, a training room, an exercise room, and mechanical spaces. The structure will utilize reinforced concrete block bearing walls with metal stud and drywall interior, and metal siding exterior finish; low sloped TPO roof supported on metal deck, bar joists and steel beams.  Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment supplying all interior spaces will meet current building codes.

Site work will include a new asphalt parking lot and drive, concrete curbs, and concrete sidewalks.  Stormwater system includes new catch basins and on-site detention basin.  The new building and site will be served by new utilities.

McGill, Smith, Punshon (MSP) of Cincinnati serves as architectural/engineering firm. Graybach of Cincinnati is the contractor.
