Commissioners make new appointments

BATAVIA, Ohio (Feb. 7, 2018) – Clermont County Commissioners today (Feb. 7) made several appointments to county boards and commissions.

Public Defender Commission: Dexter Bastin, with the recommendation of Public Defender Stephen Haynes, was appointed to a term from Feb. 7, 2018, through Jan. 14, 2022. Bastin is an attorney in Batavia. He has been a magistrate in Brown County, and an assistant prosecutor in both Brown and Clermont counties. Bastin succeeds William Rapp. R. Aaron Maus, an attorney in Batavia, was reappointed to a four-year term that runs from Jan. 15, 2018, through Jan 14, 2022.

Law Library Resources Board: Marshall McCachran, recommended by current Law Library Board members, was appointed to a term from Feb. 7, 2018, through Dec. 31, 2018. McCachran was an assistant prosecutor for Clermont County from 2013-15, and also an assistant public defender from 1987-2012. He currently is an adjunct assistant professor at UC Clermont where he teaches civil litigation, legal research and family law. He fills the unexpired term that was formerly held by Jesse Kramig, now a Municipal Court judge.

Port Authority: Loretta Rokey, Pierce Township administrator, was appointed to a term from Feb. 7, 2018, through Aug. 19, 2021. Rokey was previously the administrator of the Village of Glendale and city manager of Milford. She succeeds Adele Evans, assistant director of the Department of Community and Economic Development for Clermont County, whose term had not expired.

Convention and Visitors Bureau: Nick Baker, general manager at Holiday Inn Eastgate, was appointed to a term from Feb. 7, 2018, through Sept. 1, 2018. He succeeds Adele Evans, who resigned in September. Jeffrey Sperry, director of external relations at the Cincinnati Nature Center, was appointed to a term from Feb. 7, 2018, through Feb. 6, 2021. He succeeds County Auditor Linda Fraley.

All board appointees are residents of Clermont County.
