Commissioners OK the placement of DD levy on May ballot

BATAVIA, Ohio (Dec. 20, 2017) – The Clermont County Board of Developmental Disabilities will place its renewal tax levy on the May 8, 2018, primary election ballot. The Board of County Commissioners authorized the action at its Dec. 20 session.

The .75 mill five-year operating levy, which was originally passed in 2003, will expire at the end of 2018 unless voters approve its renewal. The renewal will not result in any increased cost to taxpayers. For a home worth $100,000, the levy costs about $21 a year.

DD Superintendent Dan Ottke, who spoke to Commissioners in November, said that the number of individuals and families requesting DD services has increased almost 50% from 2014 to 2017.

Services provided through the DD board are funded through three continuing levies, as well as this renewal operating levy. The renewal levy provides about $3 million a year.
