BATAVIA, Ohio (Oct. 26, 2016) — Clermont County’s Veterans Day Parade will be held Friday, Nov. 11, in the Village of Batavia. Lineup begins at 6 p.m. at the U.S. Post Office, 575 West Main St., Batavia, and the parade starts at 7 p.m.

The event will feature bands from several local high schools. Ron Chapman, Commander of the American Legion Department of Ohio, will speak during the event, said Steve Foster of the Clermont County Council of the American Legion, which sponsors the parade.

Those who want to join the parade can look for a sign for their community at the post office, Foster said.

“We are one of the few counties that actually holds the Veterans Day parade on Veterans Day,” Foster noted.

Other veterans-related events that week include:

• Nov. 11: Dedication of a Purple Heart monument at 6 p.m. at Union Township’s Veterans Memorial Park, 906 Clough Pike.
• Nov. 11: Bethel American Legion’s Honor Guard will hold a service at old Bethel Methodist Church cemetery on Ohio 125 near entrance of East Fork State Park at 11 a.m.
• Check with local schools on Veterans Day programs.
• Nov. 12: Breakfast at UC Clermont; Ohio ID cards for veterans will be issued. This allows veterans who don’t have a VA Health card to receive discounts on meals and purchases offered by restaurants and retailers to veterans. 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Student Lounge.
• Nov. 13: Wayne Township Salute To Veterans at 2 p.m.; Township Hall; 6320 State Route 133, Goshen. Ceremony and light refreshments.
