BATAVIA, Ohio (Sept. 1, 2015) — September is National Preparedness Month. It is the time of year to take steps to prepare in the event of an emergency.
Less than half of all Americans have an emergency plan. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recommends that individuals be prepared to provide for themselves for at least three days following an emergency, but in a 2009 survey, 61% of those polled expected to rely upon emergency responders during those first 72 hours.
Take the time this month to create a family emergency plan, and visit www.ready.gov for more preparedness information. You’ll find information on how to prepare for tornadoes and floods, among other disasters.
