The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Clermont County from 4:00 AM December 21, 2013 through 7:00 AM December 22, 2013. Floods can be caused by excessive rains, severe thunderstorms, winter snow thaws, and dam / levee failures. Flash flooding can occur with little to no warning.
Flooding causes more deaths per year than any other severe weather related hazard. The majority of flood related deaths are caused when vehicles are driven into high water or pedestrians walk into or near flood waters. As little as 6 inches of water can knock over an adult and a mere 18 inches of water can carry a vehicle downstream.
