Ready for severe weather?

First, it is important to know the terms to help identify a tornado hazard:

  1. Tornado Watch – Tornadoes are possible. Remain alert for approaching storms. Watch the sky and stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio, commercial radio or television for information.
  2. Tornado Warning – A tornado has been sighted or indicated by weather radar. Take shelter immediately.

Be sure to listen to NOAA Weather Radio or to commercial radio or television newscasts for the latest information. In any emergency, always listen to the instructions given by local emergency management officials. Your power may go out, so have a radio and fresh batteries ready!

Be alert to changing weather conditions and be on the lookout for approaching storms. Watch for the following danger signs:

If you see approaching storms or any of the danger signs, be prepared to take shelter immediately.
