Clermont Agricultural Agencies Host Informational Breakfast Meeting

dirtLearn About Local Agriculture Programs & Available Technical Assistance

Owensville, OH – Clermont County agricultural agencies are inviting local landowners and farmers to an informational breakfast meeting on Thursday, November 14 from 9-11 a.m. at the Clermont Agricultural Service Center located at 1000 Locust Street (Clermont Co. Fairgrounds) in Owensville.  At the meeting, participants will learn about local agricultural programs and the types of technical assistance available to farmers and land owners in Clermont County.

The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Clermont Farm Service Agency (FSA), Clermont Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) and OSU Extension will be on hand to discuss how their programs can help support local farmers.  “Our programs are voluntary and designed to support agriculture and environmental quality as compatible goals,” says Lori Lenhart, District Conservationist with NRCS.  “We’re hosting this breakfast meeting to let folks know these programs are available,” she adds.

NRCS is currently accepting applications through November 15th for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), a program that helps farmers install conservation practices.  FSA also offers some financial assistance programs, while SWCD and OSU Extension focus on providing education and technical assistance on a range of agricultural issues, including soil erosion and fertilizer/pesticide applications.

This free event is open to the public and will be held in the 4-H Hall.   A light breakfast will be provided for participants.  For more information about the meeting or the available agriculture programs, contact Lori Lenhart at 732-2181, ext. 102 or by email at lori.lenhart@oh.usda.gov.
