Wayne Township, Ohio – On August 8, 2013, at 7:17 am, the Clermont County Department of Public Safety Services (Communications Center) received a call regarding a tanker truck accident located on Garrison Spurling Road near Ernies Drive, in Wayne Township.

Wayne Township Fire and Rescue responded to the scene to investigate and determined the liquid to be a mixture of aviation fuel and fungicide, necessitating spill containment and a subsequent environmental cleanup.  Approximately 200 gallons of aviation fuel was spilled on an adjacent cornfield.

The Greater Cincinnati Hazardous Materials Unit, the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, Ohio State Highway Patrol, and the Clermont County Emergency Management Agency responded to the incident. The driver of the truck was transported to the hospital for observation. The truck has been removed, but Garrison Spurling will remain closed from Martin to State Route 28 until the environmental clean up is complete later this afternoon or early evening.

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency will oversee the cleanup process.
