Batavia, Ohio. Are you looking for something fun for your kids to do this fall? If so, the Ohio State University (OSU) Extension-Clermont and the Family and Consumer Sciences Teen Board have a stylish solution for you! In the month of October, OSU Extension-Clermont will offer a Beginning Sewing Class series in the 4-H Hall at the Clermont County Fairgrounds in Owensville. Classes for those between the ages of 8 and 19 will be held on October 6, 13, 20, and 27, 2009 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.; the cost is $10 per student for the entire series.
“During the classes, we will teach young people the basics of sewing, how to use a sewing machine and become more skilled when using one,” said 4-H Master Clothing Educator Holly Vining. “During the October 13 class, we will visit a local fabric store to purchase a pattern and fabric for their project.”
Those attending need to bring a portable sewing machine; a limited number of machines will be provided for those who do not have their own. Children between the ages of 8 and 10 must be accompanied by a parent; those 11 to 19 can attend on their own. The deadline to register for the Beginning Sewing Class is Friday, September 25, 2009. Please call OSU Extension-Clermont at (513) 732-7070 for more information, or to register for the classes.
