Immediate Release

Batavia, Ohio. “This is exciting news for everyone in Clermont County,” said Clermont County Board of Commissioners President Ed Humphrey. The county is introducing a free discount drug card program that is available to everyone in the county, regardless of age, income, health, or employment status. The program, sponsored by the National Association of Counties (NACo), offers an average savings of 22 percent off the retail price of commonly prescribed drugs. The discount drug card program is administered by CVS Caremark at no cost to Clermont County. There are no enrollment forms, no membership fees, and no limit on how many times the card can be used. It can even cover pet prescriptions! The card can be used immediately.
“This prescription card is accepted at most pharmacies in the county and will provide significant savings to the un-insured and under-insured,” said Humphrey. “Every family in the county is eligible for a card; it can help citizens with prescriptions not covered by insurance.” If you have insurance, simply present both cards to the pharmacist and you will pay the lower of a discounted price or the pharmacy’s regular retail price.
The free cards are available (one per family) at the Clermont County Department of Job and Family Services (2400 Clermont Center Drive in Batavia), the Board of Clermont County Commissioners office (101 E. Main Street in Ba tavia), Workforce One (756 Old SR 74 in Union Township), Clermont Senior Services, Clermont County Public Library branches, and at many social service agencies throughout the county. They will also be available at the Taste of Clermont (September 11-13, 2009) at Eastgate Mall.
“In this tight economy, this program offers citizens a potential way to stretch their health care dollars,” said Humphrey. To find out whether your pharmacy participates in the discount drug card program, call 1-877-321-2652.
